Called Progressive today and it appears that I have spent my 5 grand. Going to have to wait until the New Year to get any further PT. With our new Health Insurance Plan thru PERS, the local hospital, the Orthopod, and the PT facility are finally all in network, so I could afford to get some further PT as is necessary. Saturday I walked three miles with my neighbor Joe, Sunday I rode my mountain bike an hour easily to try and get that knee to spin, and then walked 2 miles. The knee went round normally finally with my foot on the pedal at the ball. Today was day one at Ultimate Fitness. I warmed up with 20 minutes on an Exercycle. I then proceeded to take my weak old body thru all the upper body and lower body machines. Will probably be sore from that tomorrow. I then went to a treadmill and started walking. As I walked faster, I quickly brought the elevation pretty high. I figured that with a lot of elevation, I could try a few one minute jogs at a very slow pace with very limited Range Of Motion needed, and minimal pounding. Did about 5 intervals as a test. Didn't bother my knee much, but my ankle and my hip didn't much like it. Only did it for about 15 minutes. Will give it another try tomorrow. When I got home I iced the swollen knee and ankle. This is going to be a VERY long road back. I read some running blogs and some PT blogs and this knee stiffness and swelling can last a year! Just gotta keep age 60 as the goal!
