It has been 2 weeks since the cast was applied. Other than a few close calls with slipping or falling down, things are going o.k. I am pretty sure that I will probably go down once before the damn thing comes off. Hopefully I won't fracture something else when that happens. Made a large order to Amazon and picked up a bunch of new and used books.Loving the new Dan Brown book the Lost Symbol. Also, a great book called Idiot America...how stupidity became a virtue in the land of the free by Charles Pierce. Got me thinking about those folks who believe that cowboys rode dinosaurs. My favorite quote so far is from the NY Times where the author says that the intelligent design folks have made a "politically saavy challenge to evolution". The author compares this to taking a gallop pole on gravity. Somehow we have lost the critical ability to differentiate between real expertise, science, and rationality and what some people just believe. It happens every day on TV when pundits come on and argue two sides of an issue like both sides are of equal value just because they say so. Where has our critical thinking gone......
Anyway, my daughter in law Lyudibug takes on the 50 mile challenge tomorrow and I will be thinking good thoughts for her all day tomorrow. I will report her results next week. Go Lyudibug!
