
Today was the 2nd PT day. I had done a 3 mile walk on Friday and Sunday, and did my rubber band strength work, and all my stretches. Now that I can sit on the floor with my knee bent and foot flat, I can now use a rope to start to pull my foot toward my butt. hurts like hell but works. Today was much harder that Thursday. I started on the recumbent Exercycle. I had to go 15 minutes. I started with no Resistance, and it took me a minute to get round with a normal pedal motion. then he told me to get to 80 revolutions per minute. there is a real time counter on the machine. it took me three minutes to get there. then, he started increasing the Resistance every three minutes. for the last three minutes, I had to go 100 rpm at a Resistance setting of 4. That was horrible!! From there, we went to the leg press machine where we did 4 by 15 single leg reps of the press, and 4 by 15 single leg calf raises. that wasn't bad. then I had to lie on my face and he put a 5 lb. weight on my leg, and I had to do 20 leg curls followed by a minute of letting the weight pull my knee past straight to beyond zero degrees. Had to do that 3 times and that absolutely hurt like hell, but I can get my knee to full straight. he said that this is more important to running and walking (that smart terry told me this a week ago) than how far I can bend it. from there we went to the weigh machine and did leg curls. That was o.k. Then things got goofy. We went to the wall and he slipped the orange rubber belt around my waist, and I had to walk forward, backward, and each side out as far as I could go and then back. Almost fell a few times. Finally, the hardest one was I had to walk forward as far as possible, and the walk sideways from side to side to complete 180 degrees of semicircle. Then I had to do it backwards, and that was horrible. Damn am I uncoordinated. The fact that I can't feel my feet well due to the 4 back surgeries doesn't help. Since I sucked at this so bad, he punished me by making me walk for 5 minutes BACKWARDS on a treadmill. Talk about trying not to fall down. that was it for the day. Knee was pretty damn sore. He warned me that we are gonna go harder on the Exercycle Wednesday, and then it is gonna be lots of tough weight machine stuff......gotta do what i gotta do.....
