Yesterday I tried riding my mountain bike around the development. It was cold and windy as hell. I was able to last a half hour, and then went walking another half hour. The problem on the bike, is that I am right around 115 to 120 degrees ROM which is just shy of the ROM needed for normal cycling. I had to cheat on my bad leg and put my foot on the pedal at the arch instead of at the ball of my foot. By the end of the half hour I got pretty close to the ball of the foot on the pedal, but it was damn hard. Today I started again with 15 minutes on the Exercycle like the previous session, and then spent most of the session doing a variety of weight work with machines and cables. Went well. Then did some exercises on the mat to stretch the knee farther, and go straight beyond zero. John says that I am at the place where I have the full range of motion necessary to run, but still will have many months of work before I get the knee to bend to reach my butt. My lack of coordination and numbness in my feet bugs him though. He asked if I ever fall on trail runs, and of course, I do and have on occasion, especially when tired. He took me to this balance board and had me try side to side stuff, and front to back. What a freakin' disaster. If terry was there he would laugh his skinny ass off. Anyway, he believes that even with my nerve problems from the back surgeries and injuries, I could relearn a great deal of my perception, balance, and coordination. I came home, jumped on the Internet, and purchased the same board they use there (click on image to enlarge). PT, he told me, will probably run about $200 a shot, so he asked how long I want to go. I figure that 7 sessions along with all my other expenses will come pretty close to my $5000 uninsured motorist coverage limit, so I will talk to him Friday about weather he thinks I can learn all I need to know with three more sessions next week. Then I can be both a home gamer and maybe join ultimate fitness. Will have to decide.
On a fun automotive subject, I downloaded all 1.5 Gigs of music from my ipod onto a 2 Gig SD card, and loaded it into the VW Entertainment system. Awesome. The VW now has 6 CD's, Satellite Radio, And about 320 songs all loaded and ready to go. Need to schedule a long road trip!!!

road trip? You need to walk...not sit for hours on end.
