Skinny Leg and All!

Boy, this is going to be a very long and painful road. I now have the walking boot and can bear most of my body weight without any pain in my ankle or leg. Of course, the boot keeps the ankle from being able to bend much to either side. My right calf and thigh look like this poor guy who was cut in half on a train track. I am doing isometric exercises for my knee, and am able to do straight leg lifts, and bent knee lifts with the weight of the boot as my resistance. The horrid part is my knee range of motion. When the cast came off, I could only bend it about 30 degrees. Pain in patellaer tendon, below knee cap, and to the inside of the knee cap (where the MCL and fracture is). The doctor says it is a normal problem coming off a cast after a knee break, but it is bizarre. I called today again to check, and they just said keep on working. I work on ROM three times a day for about 15 minutes. In three days I have moved to about 80 degrees. Feels like a horrid rusty hinge. Anyway, gotta just keep at it until I get the Boot off and can go and let a physical therapist start working on me. From what I have read, getting on an Exercycle really gets things started. Running seems like a very very long way off. Hope to be walking in the new year.

Found something that might work with your knee. It'd be an odd size...but I bet I could get it to work.
