Survey Says!

Last Sunday, I went for an hour walk where I attempted to do around 30 twenty to thirty second jogs to test the knee and ankle. It did not go well. Lots of pain under the kneecap, and below the kneecap. The good news was that there was no pain at either fracture site, and there was no sense of instability in the knee or ankle. The pain under the knee cap remained throughout that day. From my reading, your body heals injuries in a haphazard way, and then you have to remodel those scarred ligaments and tendons to get them functioning the way that you plan to use them. So, on Monday and Tuesday, I spent the second 30 minutes of my Exercycle workout setting the resistance to max and doing stand up pedaling. My thought was that this would put more pressure under the kneecap in a fashion similar to running. I would alternate a minute of this with a couple minutes of spinning. Seemed to work pretty well. Today I skipped the gym, and went out to enjoy the 62 degree sunny day. I walked 4 miles, with the inclusion of 8 two minute jogs. Worked pretty well, with stiffness and soreness, but not the pain under the kneecap. So, the answer to the survey question about when I would run again is now officially January. Still is a long way from comfortable, but it is an acceptable start. Now I have to get comfortable doing some intervals on the treadmill at the gym.

I'm going to go out and run 8x 2min and 10seconds just so I can say I kicked your ass.
