Short Hill Repeats!

Had to go in to Las Cruces today to get another basal cell carcinoma chopped out. That is the easy part. The pain in the ass part is the 21 days of aldara cream that causes your body to attack anything that is left and makes you look like you have some skin eating bacterial disease! This one is right below my left ear! Anyway, I had run long yesterday, and decided to try and do two harder workouts back to back, so I stopped at NMSU by the sports complex. I warmed up for two miles by running around the football stadium a few times, and then attempted 10 hill repeats of about a minute and a half on the grass side of the football stadium. There is nothing anywhere in deming where I could do such a workout, and it spooks me to try it on the treadmill at the gym, so this was an opportunity to get such a work out done. I got thru 8 and was dying, so I ran another loop of the stadium, and came back to finish the last two. Then after another lap of the stadium, I tried 3 or 4 sprints on the football field. There were two NMSU football players doing a sprint workout there, so I told them that since I was 60, they could give me a 30 yard head start. They thought that was funny. They caught me easily. Anyway, after a few sprints, I was totally cooked and super sore. I bet I will have bad DOMS tomorrow at the gym when I get on the sled to try and do leg presses.......Anyway, it has been a pretty good past 5 weeks of running and I have averaged 35 miles per week with some short and long intervals each week. Haven't done that for a 5 week period since I was a young whipper snapper of 51!
