O.K., I've had a few drinks, but I have been pondering this all day. Went out for a long run today, and had an hour and forty five minutes of this rolling around in my head. This is really netflix's fault. I have been downloading episodes of Borgia, The Tudors, Rome and other items set in the 14th and 15th centuries. I am a fallen catholic who has wondered for half of my life weather the catholic church has done more good or bad in the name of Jesus Christ. Those Crusades, the Spanish inquisition, all that sodomy of children, all of the rape of the worlds wealth in order to enrich the Vatican. If the catholic church really believed in what they profess, they would sell all of their treasures and use the proceeds to feed the starving masses in the world. Kind of a loaves and fishes thing....Anyway, Martin Luther, one of the two men responsible for the protestant reformation, was such an anti Semite, that his German religious descendants created the genesis for Hitler and the attempt to wipe the Jews from the face of the earth, cause really, they still blame them for killing Jesus. And Calvin, who spawned those Tea party born again lunatics who believe that god saves whoever he feels like, so long as they are good white Anglo folks, and that we are all created with absolute equal opportunities under god, and if you are poor, stupid, handicapped, well, you just failed to live up to gods gifts. So, lets be clear. The protestant reformation was just a bunch of cowardly catholics who are now just tea party protestants who have lost the qualities of empathy, justice, and grace that are hallmarks of the religion they failed. I would prefer to be angry at the failings of my catholic upbringing, than be any protestant who is just a cowardly catholic!
